Malayalam actor Baiju Santhosh has been charged with drunken driving following a collision with a two-wheeler at Vellayambalam junction in the early hours of Monday. The Museum police in Thiruvananthapuram have registered a case against him. The incident occurred late on Sunday night when Baiju, driving from Sasthamcotta, collided with a scooter rider approaching from the direction of Kowdiar.
According to the police, Baiju’s car, allegedly speeding, struck the scooter before crashing into two electric poles. Although the scooter rider did not sustain serious injuries, they were taken to Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital for treatment. The actor’s vehicle was damaged to the extent that it became inoperable following the collisions. Upon arrival at the scene, the Museum police took Baiju into custody.
It was later confirmed that Baiju had consumed alcohol. Although he was taken to the General Hospital for medical tests, he reportedly refused to provide a blood sample. The Museum police have seized Baiju’s car and charged him with reckless driving under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently released on station bail.
Baiju was last seen in Virunnu, alongside Arjun Sarja. The Nunakuzhi actor's upcoming slate includes the Mohanlal-starrer Lucifer's sequel titled L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, and debutant Dhananjay Shankar's Bha Bha Ba, headlined by Dileep.
